A little-remembered feature that I’m just discovering in CS5 is the ability to selectively desaturate pixels in a photo while preserving detail. It’s particularly handy for mixing color tints and tones in older black-and-white images.

I continue creating adjustments that are part of the photo shoot — maybe create a Kelvin temperature, a color temperature adjustment layer, and a vignette adjustment — that all produce independent images beyond the original and still in the same canvas space as the original.
