Cracking Adobe Photoshop is not as straightforward as installing it. It requires a few steps to bypass the security measures that are in place. Lightroom 5 has that, including the ability to view images in a bunch of different ways. I also like the way the toolbars originally placed all categories on the left side of the screen. Now you can move them to the right.
You can still access some of those mature features in the development environment, but you have to put your head through a load of hoops to do it. You can’t jump directly to the basics, and you have to jump through a lot of hoops to get to them.
I found that it’s a bit difficult to get used to editing images with Lightroom 5. You’ll eventually get the hang of it, but compared to the previous versions, it feels like an entirely different interface. You don’t find your way around it easily.
Much of the program’s appeal derives from its array of tools, some of which you’re likely to need and others you’ll probably want to avoid on the job. You’ll likely be primarily interested in the Photo and the Artistic Editions, but the Creative Editions is worth a look as well. It includes a surprisingly capable video editor and is my personal favorite. There are advantages to the Creative Editions’ more expensive subscription for those who do professional work in multiple fields and can justify the cost.
